Careers for Indian Students

Our careers advisers provide expert advice, while our work experience and placements programmes ensure you will learn practical skills to help you in the employment market.
The University’s team of employment specialists, called Hired, have in-depth knowledge about work in the UK and how UK recruiting works.
Our advisers will listen to you and guide you throughout the UK careers process. Many of our degree courses feature industry placements, but even if your chosen course does not, we can help you get work experience to boost your appeal to employers and recruiters.
Practical work experience and knowledge will give your CV extra appeal and you can build up job references to complement your academic qualifications.

I had a job interview for a new product development role with global bread agent specialist Kudos Blends and Hired department staged a mock interview for me. This really sparked off what I needed to do for a more technical role. I got a second interview and again, Hired helped me with my presentation. They were fantastic and I got the job.
Can Indian students work while studying at University College Birmingham?
Your current visa will tell you if you have permission to work in the UK while you are studying for a degree. It will also say if there are any restrictions during your studies in the UK.

Getting you in front of employers
It’s vital that you have access to local and international employers. To ensure you do, we hold regular employability extravaganza fairs and employer presentations, with many of our students having secured their first role on the back of these.

We provide a range of support for our budding student entrepreneurs, including industry mentoring, expert consultations and even a start-up grant.

Post-degree support
The team at Hired provides advice and support for up to five years after the completion of your degree. We can support you with interviews and attending employer presentations and recruitment fairs.
